Mouse Button Osnap Menu
September 21st, 2007 by Mike Fowler
Have you ever wished you had a single button you could press and bring up the nifty little osnap popup? This guide will show you how to remap button 7 on your Logitech G5 laser mouse to open the Osnap Popup menu in Civil 3D 2008. Your mileage may vary when setting up a different mouse or different button, but the same basic technique still applies.
- Open the Logitech Setpoint software (mine was listed Mouse and Keyboard Settings under the Start Menu.
- Under section 1a (Select Program), click the Manage Programs button.
- In the Manage Programs dialog box, click the Add button and browse to the C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008\acad.exe file and click Open.
- Now under section 1a (Select Program), use the drop-down to select AutoCAD Application.
- Under section 2 (Select Button), choose button 7 (Sensitivity Increase).
- Under section 3 (Select Task), click the radio button for Keystroke Assignment.
- Under section 3a (Specify Keystroke), set focus to the Keystroke box and hit Cntrl+L on your keyboard.
- Click on the Apply button, and then the OK button.
- Now open one of the Civil 3D 2008 applications and enter CUI at the command prompt.
- In the top-left window, find Keyboard Shortcuts and expand that group to find Shortcut Keys. Pick that.
- Now in the top-right window it will list all of the accelerator keys within that group. Scroll down thru the list until you see Cntrl+L in the Keys column and select that.
- Now in the bottom-right pane (Information), set the Name to Osnap Popup for Mouse, leave the Descriptin blank, and change the Macro to $P0=SNAP $p0=*
- Hit Apply, then OK and let Autocad do it’s thing.
If you have more than one Autodesk product installed, you’ll need to repeat this procedure for each.
Enjoy!
